About Jade Wagner

From the slopes of Maui’s expansive volcano Haleakalā, Jade Wagner begins each day with magnificent views of the valley isle below and the vast blue Pacific Ocean. A source of endless inspiration, the setting serves as the perfect backdrop for Jade’s artistic pursuits. Blending intuitively chosen colors into large-scale abstract expressionist pieces, she sees her work as the meeting place of art and healing.

Jade was originally inspired by her high school art teacher, a European nun who playfully demonstrated a freedom of expression through art. This has remained a powerful influence in her journey. She has studied oil painting since the 70s with various notable artists that she admires. Jade has experienced a wide range of mediums and painting styles over the past five decades from representational style portraits in oil to abstract expressionism in acrylic. She has also experimented with a variety of mediums to include sculpting, tri-hue watercolor and glass blowing.

As a Reiki Master and Reconnection Practitioner for over 30 years, Jade has thoroughly immersed herself in the practice of meditation, spiritual awareness and consciousness exploration. She sees art as a vehicle for healing - a lens through which energy can be ‘played with’, translated and explored without boundaries. She envisions her work as a catalyst for individuals to start imagining new ways of being and becoming in the realm of time and space.

Jade’s artistic work has been widely celebrated over the decades. Her series of whimsical plywood cut-out dinosaurs were represented by Jovian Gallery on Maui in the 90s and remain in collectors' homes worldwide. More recently, she was a selected artist in the 2017 juried show at the Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center Kaluanui Centennial 10x10 Exhibition on Maui.

Having recently retired from the corporate world, Jade has taken the opportunity to focus on entering more juried exhibitions, and creating more artworks of beauty. She aims to inspire viewers to open their minds, discover new stories in each piece of work, and feel connected to the energy source.
